Recently, the faculty/staff at Regis Jesuit High School paused to pray together over their call to walk with the excluded. “Walking with the Excluded” is the second of the four Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus – one of the four areas of primary focus for the Society of Jesus as they continue to read the signs of the times and respond out of faith.

Kristen Kraus, Director of Adult Formation, led the faculty/staff through a prayer service centered not only around UAP2 but also around the real encounters members of their community have had with the poor and marginalized both inside and outside of their immediate Regis Jesuit community. She had this to say about the experience:
As a community, we had our entire Junior class out of the building immersed in different schools and agencies who accompany the poor and vulnerable in the Greater Denver area. Additionally, we had about 100 seniors and 15 adults out on national and international immersions. I wanted to create a space for our community to pray in solidarity with our students and adults and to reflect on our individual and communal call to walk with the excluded.
If you are interested in leading your faculty/staff through a prayer service like this one, you can find the script here:
For your reflection:
- How can I pray in solidarity with our students and our larger community?
- How does my community already walk with the excluded?
- What more might my community be called to do in response to the second Universal Apostolic Preference: Walking with the Excluded?
