Did you know that a group of Ignatian Educators who promote and give the Spiritual Exercises in Jesuit schools meets once a month on zoom throughout the school year?
The members of the Promoting the Spiritual Exercises Discussion Group meet together for collaboration and support in this very important work. Each month they begin by hearing a short presentation tailored to spiritual direction and the Exercises and then engage in a discussion about the ideas presented.
Last year, the October presenter was Damian Zynda from McQuaid Jesuit. She shared some of her experiences on what happens to directors in the work of directing the Exercises. Damian’s presentation provided a roadmap for the reflective engagement that followed and helped those in attendance be fortified to continue their work in promoting the Spiritual Exercises. She presented a powerful testament to the importance of this work.
We invite you to view Damian’s presentation below and then consider the following:
- If you are a Director: Does what she mentions resonate with you? How does it equate to your own experiences of directing the Exercises?
- If you are a Directee: Does what she says give you some added perspective about the experience of your own director as you went through the Exercises yourself?
Are you an Ignatian Educator and/or Spiritual Director who is promoting the Spiritual Exercises in your Jesuit school? Would you like to join in on the discussion?
Contact us and we will put you in touch with Bob Stephan, Loyola High School Los Angeles who directs these monthly meetings.
